PowerBlock Elite Set Adjustable Exercise Dumbbell Weights (5-90 lbs per hand)

If you're working out in a home gym, there's no question that you're primarily going to be relying on dumbbells in order to get in all the exercises you perform.  While dumbbells are a great way to stay in shape and do offer a wide variety of exercise options, the biggest problem with them comes with the downtime required to be constantly changing the weights.

That's where the PowerBlock Elite Set Adjustable Exercise Dumbbell Weights come in. With these dumbbells you can quickly flick a switch and go from five pounds all the way up to ninety pounds in seconds.

In addition to that, they will take up far less room than a traditional dumbbell set and won't require a full dumbbell rack to sit on either. If you're trying to save space with your home gym, this is definitely the route that you'll want to go.

This simple pair of dumbbells will replace up to 28 pairs of dumbbells through the weight combinations that it offers.

How This Gym Equipment Benefits Your Health

Dumbbell exercises are great for forming the basis of your workout program because they will recruit the abdominal muscles to a much greater extent than traditional weight machine based exercises will since you won't have a seat and back pad to rest against.

For this reason, you'll often experience higher calorie burns during your workout using dumbbells and will see better improvements in your agility and strength level.

Furthermore, when performed properly dumbbells tend to reduce the risk of injuries as they won't lock you into a certain fixed movement pattern like a weight machine would.

With this pair of dumbbells you'll be able to execute movements that work all the main muscle groups in the body such as dumbbell squats, deadlifts, lunges, step-ups, sumo squats, chest press, incline chest press, shoulder press, bent over rows, bicep curls, tricep extensions, tricep kickbacks, lateral raises, front raises, and upright rows.

The exercise combinations you can put together to create changing workouts that will deliver you results is virtually endless, making this a very wise investment for your home gym.

Had these blocks since January 2011
I bought the elite's when Urethane first came onto the market. I wanted the blocks to pair up with the P90x workout routine and wanted something compact and not a zillion different dumbbells. Competing brands: Bowflex, Ironmasters Bowflex is too big Ironmasters would be the only other brand I would purchase. Full metal feel and there is NO jiggling at all. More compact than the Powerblocks, full free dumbbell feel. The only down side of the Ironmasters is the actual weight switching per dumbbell takes 30+ seconds each. Their video really doesn't cover what other folks who've own the item actually do. 75lb db pair is cheaper than the 90elites. 499 for the stand, and both 75lb dumbbells. Pros - 1) Quick change u-bar as long as you are placing them straight in and not upside down or slanted works perfect. 2) Some don't like the feel of the cage around the hand grip, but I personally like it, and they're padded. 3) Cheaper than the Sport/Urethane 90s set. 4) Good customer support. I had one of my DBs like 40lb set manufactured incorrectly and overly gripped the one that would be inside of it. Called up customer support and they sent out a free one with no cost. Always appreciate good customer service for an expensive product. Cons - 1) Paint on the metal chips, but I could really car less since I'm less worried about the looks of my weights. 2) A little bit of jiggle/movement, but very small and minor during weight movements over the head. Makes it a tad bit disconcerting, but nothing has ever given out. If this jiggle movement/sound was gone I would definitely give it a 5 star rating. I still use the Powerblocks. Works as advertised
I went 40 days on the P90x routine, to try and look and feel better for our cruise. But I didn't have a good set of dumbbells and made due with a home gym set up. I've since moved, and sold the bulky home gym, so I was looking to get a solid set of dumbbells to restart my workouts. I went with the PowerBlock Elite since I intend to use them for most of my weight training. Everything was as advertised. It took just a little getting used to putting your hands into them, rather than having the open feel of regular dumbells. But they're well balanced, and feel fine. Also they feel solid, as they're nested steel plates, and not made of plasic. Changing weights is a breeze, and the u-bar you have to take out and re-insert to change the weights stays put, which was just a small concern for me when I bought it. I've just started using them, but so far so great. Official Amazon review of PowerBlock Elite Set Dumbells. Click here for additional reviews.

Gift for my husband
My husband researched the best product of this type and had been talking about Powerblocks for months. I purchased them for Christmas and he loves them. Widest weight range in product class. Purchased stand too. It's great. Official Amazon review of PowerBlock Elite Set Dumbells. Click here for additional reviews.

Power block dumbbells
Just what I expected. Easy to change weight. Only one disappointment is that the plates often stick when trying to lift the handle out. Otherwise should last forever. Stand is handy so you don't have to bend over to get them off the floor. Not ergonomically friendly when trying to do tricep extensions compared to regular hex dumbbells. Pricey but worth it
I have to admit I thought these were pretty pricey. But when you consider how much it would cost to buy individual dumbbells its actually a good deal. The rack that comes with it is of decent quality and its the perfect addition to my small home gym. There are other adjustable dumbbells out there but these are the smallest and easiest to use. If you're looking for good quality in a small package than give these a try. Official Amazon review of PowerBlock Elite Set Dumbells. Click here for additional reviews.
